Scam precaution

Your safety matters. OPENLANE prioritizes security against scams targeting you. Stay ahead of phishing attempts and protect your data.

Recognising phishing attempts: don’t be a victim

Exercise caution, as scammers are not only falsifying OPENLANE phone numbers, social media profiles, and websites, but they’re also mimicking OPENLANE’s authorized email addresses as part of phishing attempts to compromise customer data and gain unauthorized access to bank accounts and credit cards.

Crucial points to remember when identifying a potential scam

1

Check the sender’s email address

Scammers often use addresses that may look similar to ours but are not genuine. Ensure that the sender’s email address matches our official domain: @openlane.eu or openlane.co.uk Be cautious of any variations or masked addresses!

2

Avoid clicking suspicious links

Authentic OPENLANE emails will never ask you to click on links to provide personal information. Be cautious of any email requesting you to click a link, especially for data updates, payments, or account verification.

In particular, emails originating from senders such as “DURAND Michel van OPENLANE,” “info@openlane.groupItd.eu,” or any similar variations are confirmed to be fraudulent. These messages do not come from OPENLANE Europe and should be ignored or reported . Additionally, OPENLANE does not offer vehicles for sale on platforms like AutoScout24. All legitimate vehicle listings are available exclusively on openlane.eu, and only to registered automotive professionals.

5

Question unexpected invoices

9

Be careful of malicious communications originating from “Private Sales”

We only sell vehicles through auctions listed directly on our official website.

We never advertise cars on public marketplaces or classified ad platforms such as Mobile.de, AutoScout24, eBay, or similar sites.

10

We never use invitation codes or tokens

Some scammers may send personal invitation codes or tokens after you request information about a car. These are not legitimate and are never required to purchase a vehicle through our platform. We do not use codes, tokens, or private links for transactions. Always make sure you’re communicating directly through our official channels.

13

We only use bankaccounts from BNP or ING
