A CMR is a consignment note. It is the document prepared by the company delivering the vehicle to you; i.e. the external transport company. You need to sign the document to prove you received the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Three copies
\n<\/strong>There are three copies of the CMR: the proof of receipt, which is returned to the sender (e.g.: OPENLANE), the evidence of delivery, which goes to the carrier (the transport company) and the third copy goes to consignee, you.<\/p>\n

To be included<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
\u00a0The CMR must include:<\/strong><\/td>\nWhere? <\/strong>(see example)<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\u00a0 \u2022 The name and address of the sender. (In this case that’s OPENLANE)<\/td>\n\u00a0nr 1<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\u00a0 \u2022 The name and address of the consignee (according to the invoice). As the buyer, this is your company.<\/td>\n\u00a0nr 2<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\u00a0 \u2022 The address where the goods were picked up, as well as the date (+ a stamp from the parking place).<\/td>\n\u00a0nr 3<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\u00a0 \u2022 The final destination of the vehicle. (i.e.: where the transport company is delivering the vehicle)<\/td>\n\u00a0nr 4<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\u00a0 \u2022 The name and address of the carrier and the license plate of the truck on which the vehicle will be transported.<\/td>\n\u00a0nr 5<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\u00a0 \u2022 The make, model, chassis number and license plate of the vehicle.<\/td>\n\u00a0nr 10<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\u00a0 \u2022 This field is dedicated to the transport company. Check the date is filled in.<\/td>\n\u00a0nr 12<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\u00a0 \u2022 The pickup date and the stamp of the pickup location<\/td>\n\u00a0nr 14<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\u00a0 \u2022 The stamp of the transport company, the license plate of the truck and signature of the driver.<\/td>\n\u00a0nr 15<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\u00a0 \u2022 The date, the stamp and signature of the consignee.<\/td>\n\u00a0nr 16<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Please always check your CMRs before submitting them. You can see a correctly stamped, signed and completed\u00a0<\/span>CMR form<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>CMR with 24 fields<\/a>\u00a0here.\u00a0<\/span>There is no set format for a CMR, so the numbers of the boxes can vary.<\/span><\/p>\n

Please note:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>We don\u2019t accept\u00a0<\/span>‘International’\u00a0<\/em>or\u00a0‘To be confirmed’\u00a0<\/em>as final destination.
\nWhen you receive the vehicle, it is the responsibility of the carrier (i.e.: the transport company) to ensure the CMR is correct and the condition of the vehicle is accurately recorded. The result of these checks must be included in the CMR.<\/span><\/p>\n

Legal
\n<\/strong>This is all required under Article 5 and Article 6 of the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR) (Geneva, 19 May 1956)<\/a>, and the 1978 Protocol supplement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Remember!
\n<\/strong>You don\u2019t need to upload the CMR anymore when you order transport to your doorstep. In all other cases, you still need to upload it!
\n<\/span>You<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>cannot pick up Spanish and Italian cars in person<\/strong>.
