ADESA Europe CEO Johan Meyssen Announces Retirement After Transformative Career

Authored by: Yves Helven – Fleet Europe

ADESA Europe, a subsidiary of OPENLANE, announces the retirement of CEO Johan Meyssen. Meyssen’s visionary leadership has propelled ADESA’s growth as a major player in the remarketing industry, with sales entities spanning six countries and customers in over 50 countries.

Srisu Subrahmanyam, Executive Vice President of Operations and President, Services and International Markets at OPENLANE, acknowledges Meyssen’s significant contributions: “Johan’s bold vision and flexible thinking set a high bar for our customers and our employees as we led the way forward for our industry. For 15 years, he challenged the status quo with new ideas, leveraging the efficiency and convenience of ADESA’s digital platform to reinvent and streamline cross-border used car sales. We are grateful for Johan’s leadership and business acumen, for his many contributions and years of service, and we wish him the very best in his retirement.”

Meyssen joined ADESA in 2008, and under his guidance, the company experienced remarkable growth. Sales volumes expanded tenfold, while maintaining strong customer loyalty and expanding the international buyer network to over 100,000 members. He successfully developed ADESA’s company strategy and implemented go-to-market processes for two major business lines: traditional cross-border sales and the dealer-to-dealer model with the acquisition of GWListe in 2018.

Recently, Meyssen oversaw the consolidation and integration of ADESA UK and ADESA GWListe into the unified adesa.eu platform, streamlining the process for European customers to find desired inventory. The platform now auctions over 4,000 vehicles daily.
